Sarah Jones- Standing up for Croydon Central
Last weekend Labour Party members chose Sarah Jones as Labour’s new candidate for Croydon Central. Sarah will make a fantastic MP and I congratulate her on her selection. Make no mistake about it – Sarah is a great advocate for Croydon and someone who has what it takes to unseat the current Conservative MP, Gavin Barwell.
Sarah has vast experience as a board member of a South London housing association, as a school governor at Wolsey Junior School and from having worked for Labour MPs Mo Mowlam and Geraint Davies. She also worked as a senior manager at the NHS Confederation and was a member of the team behind the hugely successful London Olympic and Paralympic Games last year.
People in Croydon Central now have the choice of Sarah Jones who will take a stand against unfair cuts and savage attacks on living standards which Gavin Barwell has voted for on every occasion since his election.
As the mum of four children who she brought up here in Croydon Sarah Jones knows the value of education – that’s why she volunteers as a school governor. What a contrast with Tory MP Gavin Barwell who voted to treble tuition fees, cut help to keep poorer children in school, and as a key aide to Tory Education Secretary Michael Gove helped axe Croydon’s school building programme despite a growing shortage of places.
In Sarah, residents in Croydon Central have a candidate who is on their side. I look forward to working with her on behalf of people right across Croydon.
