Thornton Heath girl wins MP’s Christmas card competition
A young student from Thornton Heath has won the competition to design a Christmas card for Steve Reed MP. Chloe Defaria, 11, was awarded first prize at a special assembly at St James the Great Primary School. Steve Reed awarded Chloe a certificate and a printed copy of her winning design, with three runners-up also receiving certificates.
Students at St James the Great entered the competition to design the MP’s 2014 Christmas card earlier in the year. Chloe’s winning design has been printed and delivered to community leaders across Croydon North. Chloe and the runners-up were thrilled to receive certificates recognising the high quality of their designs.
Commenting after the special assembly, Steve Reed MP said: “The standard of entries for this year’s Christmas card competition was exceptionally high. It was very difficult to pick a winner, but Chloe’s stunning reindeer design stood out and it has already received plenty of compliments from the people I’ve sent it to. St James the Great is a wonderful school and clearly has some very talented young artists. I wish everyone who took part in the competition a very merry Christmas.”
All four winners and runners-up this year were girls. The boys will have something to prove in next year’s competition!
