MP’s cats bid to be ‘PurrMinister’ to support Battersea Dogs and Cats home
Croydon North could soon boast its very own top cats after local MP Steve Reed’s cats, Pixie and Smudge, were shortlisted for the Purr Minister award. MPs’ cats from across the country have entered the contest which aims to raise awareness of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home and the work they do to help animals.
Mr Reed’s cats were rescued as kittens and they are now in line for the top award after being endorsed by some of Labour’s top politicians, including Stella Creasy MP and Peter Kyle MP. People can vote up until March 6th by going to: www.battersea.org.uk.
Speaking after his cats made the shortlist, proud owner Steve said: “Battersea Dogs and Cats Home do incredible work for animals and I’m delighted to support them.
“The Purr Minister election is a great chance to remind people that rescue centres like Battersea need the public’s support to continue. Pixie and Smudge are in it to win it – even if it’s just by a whisker. I hope people will go”
