Steve asks Wetherspoons to rethink Thornton Heath pub closure

Steve Reed MP has written to Wetherspoons asking them to rethink damaging plans to close their pub in Thornton Heath.  The Flora Sandes, opposite Thornton Heath train station, faces closure if the pub chain fail to renew their lease.

Steve wrote to Wetherspoons asking them to clarify their plans, and whether they had plans to open in an alternative site in Thornton Heath.

A group of Thornton Heath residents have also launched a petition calling on Wetherspoons to keep the Flora Sandes open – you can sign it here.

Steve Reed MP said:

“The Flora Sandes sits at the heart of Thornton Heath and its closure would be a blow to the ongoing efforts of Croydon’s Labour Council to regenerate the area after years of neglect under the Tories.

“I hope that Wetherspoons will listen to the many residents who want to see the Flora Sandes continue to serve the community in Thornton Heath”
