Steve has a strong record on energy and the environment. He currently sits on Labour’s front bench as Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
Steve is Labour’s spokesperson for the environment and nature in the Shadow Cabinet. He is committed to restoring and protecting Britain’s nature, cutting food price inflation and ending the scandal of raw sewage being dumped in our waterways.
In 2011, Steve helped set up Repowering, an organisation that is now the UK’s biggest community-owned sustainable energy company. He has campaigned for a similar scheme to be introduced in Croydon alongside a commitment to supporting local communities to tackle climate change and restore nature in their local neighbourhoods.
