On Friday, Steve Reed spoke in Parliament in support of a Private Members’ Bill to modernise and streamline the process for making and registering a lasting power of attorney.
The Bill has passed all readings in the House of Commons and its first reading in the House of Lords, where it is due for a second reading.
The Bill includes provisions to modernise the process of registering a lasting power of attorney. This would be an important step towards supporting people suffering from debilitating diseases and their families as the UK population ages and more people are affected by conditions like dementia.
